I love to have yummy dog treats handy for training sessions, treat toys or just to spoil my beautiful boys but unfortunately I am a very lazy cook, and go through a lot of treats being a trainer. So I am always on the lookout for easy to make doggy treats especially at this time of year, when homemade dog treats make an excellent cost effective present for dog mad friends. Without further ado here are my top three easy treat recipes:
- Peanut butter biscuits
Add 2 cups of whole wheat flour, 1/3 of a cup of peanut butter (two big spoonful’s) 1 cup of skim milk and an egg. Combine ingredients until the mixture is a dough texture add more flour if needed and bake for 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
- Banana Carrot Biscuits
Mix one mashed banana, one grated carrot, 2 cups of flour, one cup of skim milk and an egg. You will need to add more flour while mixing to get the dough texture maybe another half cup and then bake for 15-20 minutes at 180 degrees Celsius.
- Sweet potato disks.
This is so simple it’s perfect! Just slice up a sweet potato into thin slices try and get them all the same thickness so they take the same amount of time to cook. Cook them in the oven for 3 hours at 120 degrees Celsius for chewy treats or 3.5 hours for more crispy treats.
These recipes are tried and tested, my dogs love them and they make huge batches! Less time in the kitchen means more time for fetch and walkies.
